Max doesn't bite super heavily on either of Topuria's feints so Topuria send the overhand immediately after the reset. However Max is able to parry it and actually tag Topuria on the exit.
Topuria’s good footwork and reactions allowed him to pivot away from Max’s spinning back kicks.
Note where Topuria's weight is in his stance as he defends the offense coming from Max. And then see how it moves as he throws the 2.
Topuria's movement and defense throughout this entire sequence is really nice. His weight transfers, he never really compromises his stance, really good positioning.
First clip Max begins to take back the initiative, going first and cracking Ilia with a 1-2, and then a 1 after the reset. Immediately Topuria becomes far more proactive with his positioning and head movement. Uses his head movement to bait the jab so he can counter with the 2.
Max came out in the 3rd looking to wrist trap and handfight Topuria's lead hand. The issue is that he can't keep his hand by his chin, it has to be in neutral space now. This makes it easier for Topuria to handtrap it. Dragging it down and cracking Max with a 2, leading to the KO.
